HP 300LX and 320LX Palmtop PCs
 The
HP 300LX and 320LX Palmtop PCs are using the MicroSoft Windows CE operating
system. The built-in software allows easy synchronization of data between
the HP 300/320LX and the desktop PC running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0.
However, compared to the HP 200LX palmtop, the number of available software
titles are quite limited. While the 200LX as well as the other DOS-compatible
palmtops from HP can use a broad range of available DOS software, the new
Windows CE palmtop can only use software which was written especially for
the Windows CE operating system. Windows 95 or Windows NT software can
not be used under Windows CE.

Note that the 640 x 240 LCD display is the largest available display
on todays Windows CE palmtops, and it is the only one that allows the displays
of 80 characters per line. This is useful not only when reading or writing
documents, but also when visiting Web pages.
The US-English version of the HP 300LX and HP 320LX is already
available from us. Please note that this version does not support entering
any accented or umlaut characters. The characters can be displayed, for
example by importing a Winword text file from the desktop, but they can
not be entered directly on the Windows CE palmtop. However, there
are now software products available which allow entering these characters
by pressing a combination of two or three keys together, for example KeyMap
Pro.
