TechSpeed Clock Upgrade

The “double speed” kit contains a new crystal and a software driver. After installation, the palmtop runs at 15.8 MHz instead of 7.9 MHz, resulting in a total speed increase of about 70-80%. Please note that the power consumption will increase by about 20-30% due to the higher clock speed.

The crystal is installed by opening the palmtop case, desoldering the old crystal from the mainboard and soldering in the double speed crystal and filter unit.

Installation is optionally available at extra cost. Please read the instructions later in this section for instructions on sending in your palmtop.

For the OmniGo 700LX, TechSpeed is only available together with installation, because the upgrade is rather complicated to install in the 700LX. Therefore, we currently do not offer printed instructions for do-it-yourself installation in the OmniGo 700LX.
